Third Street Widening
Fairbanks, Alaska

Third Street is a minor arterial in Fairbanks that needs to be improved to increase capacity, reduce accidents, and to better accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists. Variations of the project have been in the planning stages at the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) for more than 20 years.

USKH prepared capacity and safety analyses to determine the extent of required improvements and also authored the EA for this project. Environmental issues included hazardous contamination, air and noise impact analysis, floodplain coordination, right-of-way acquisition, water quality concerns, and public involvement.
