Tanana Valley Railroad Trainhouse Museum
Fairbanks North Star Borough, Alaska

Located in Fairbanks’ 44-acre Pioneer Park on the banks of the Chena River, the new Trainhouse Museum is an inviting destination to learn about the history of railroads in Alaska and enjoy the chance to view Alaska’s oldest Gold Rush Era artifact: Tanana Valley Railroad Engine #1. Engine #1 began operation in the Fairbanks Mining District between 1905 and 1930, and is one of the oldest restored steam locomotives remaining in North America.

The new trainhouse houses and supports the operation, maintenance, and display of the restored Engine #1. An important visitor attraction to Pioneer Park, the site location and project intent directly coordinates with the direction set forth in the Pioneer Park Master Plan prepared by USKH.
