Upgrade Boniface Gate for AT/FP
Elmendorf AFB, Alaska

The repairs for this facility included paved areas to perform vehicle inspections and associated support functions as well as a drive-through bay with provisions for over and under vehicle observation and administrative areas. Special design features also included a new overwatch guard post facility and traffic control systems, including manual steel swing barricades, security fencing, landscaping features to limit off-pavement vehicular traffic, and pop-up wedge barriers capable of stopping a 15,000-lb vehicle at 50 mph. In addition, a canopy for protecting personnel from the elements and promoting visual appeal of the main base entrance was constructed of glulam member trusses and covers two inbound and two outbound lanes.

The existing guard post was upgraded with bullet resistant materials and the visitor's center was also upgraded to accommodate more personnel and tie in architectural enhancements. Other enhancements included water, sanitary, storm drainage, electrical, and communications utility support to all facilities.
