Port of Anchorage TOFC Project
Anchorage, Alaska
USKH is currently working on the TOFC yard project at the Port. We teamed with Pruhs Corporation for this Design/Build project of an intermodel transportation facility for loading and unloading staging container trailers and military equipment on railroad flat cars. The original scope of work included three phases and consisted of approximately 12,000 linear feet of new railroad spur line, 8 acres of new yard, major relocation and modifications to the Cherry Hill drainage facilities (100 cubic feet per second peak flow), 3,000 linear feet of storm drains and subdrains, 300 linear feet of sheet pile retaining structures, water, POL, other utility relocations, and more than 250,000 cubic yards of excavation and backfill.
Estimated construction cost for all three phases is in excess of $10 million. Additional work to reconstruct and expand the south end yard was added to the project which design and construction are expected to be completed in late 2005. USKH provided civil, electrical and structural engineering services for all of the project components and prepared the SWPPP plan and ADEC permitting for the Cherry Hill Drainage improvements. MOA permitting for the roadwork and drainage/subdrain improvements was also provided.
