Summary of Position (general responsibility and purpose):
This is a sub professional or professional position requiring field and office experience, strong survey instrument and computer skills, especially as they relate to Computer Aided Drafting and Coordinate Geometry software, with extensive background in boundary, construction and design or topographic surveys. Position is primarily an office position but will also require occasional field work. The primary responsibility of the Associate Surveyor is to assist the senior surveyors in the completion of daily survey related tasks which will include but not be limited to:  field note reduction, construction staking calculations, volume calculations, research, boundary resolution and map drafting.

Educational/Skill/Specialization Requirements:
Licensed Surveyor in Training (LSIT) certification required. Five to 10 years progressively more responsible field and office experience.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Consistently meet and then exceed client expectations by ensuring accurate, complete, and timely communication of information to and from clients and in-house staff. Ensure the preparation of accurate, complete, and value-added work and provide quality assurance. Ensure timely document delivery. Assist Survey Manager in development of proposals, and coordinate with associated disciplines on joint projects. Deliver profitable projects. Understand tolerances and accuracy as they relate to project needs; interpretation of construction plans and record maps; understanding of field codes and stringing (field to office data collection); and boundary procedures and analysis.

Receives broad assignments and verbal instructions, usually with little or no daily supervision. Review work of Junior Surveyor. Under the supervision of senior surveyors, perform construction staking calculations; analyze and review work of survey crews; prepare cut sheets for field crews; interpret design plans for construction staking calculations; maintain filing system; analyze title reports and legal descriptions; perform record map and document research; prepare plats and legal descriptions; prepare record boundary and easement maps. Assist in preparation of Tentative Map, Parcel Map, Final Map, Record of Survey, and ALTA maps.

Position requires working contact with clients, contractors, field inspection personnel, and office engineering, architectural and planning staff. Accept responsibility for seeking and acting on feedback needed; resolve project-related personnel issues.
