 Executive Director of Finance    
Summary of Position (general responsibility and purpose):
The Executive Director of Finance is responsible for directing and overseeing the fiscal functions of the corporation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and other regulatory and advisory organizations, and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices common to a professional services organization. Oversees financial reporting and forecasting future business growth and general economic outlook. Provides strategic leadership on critical business decisions, working with the President, Vice-President, and Board of Directors to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies.

Educational/Skill/Specialization Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) preferred. Advanced business education or experience very desirable. Minimum 10 years of progressive growth in financial and accounting management with specific experience as a senior finance leader in an organization with annual revenues of $20 million or more.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the organization’s fiscal function and performance. Participate in the development of the organization’s plans and programs as a strategic partner. Participate in, evaluate, and provide analyses with supporting recommendations on the impact of short- and long-range planning, introduction of new programs and strategies, and regulatory action. Provide or procure and manage specialized financial modeling and analyses.

Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends to assist the Board of Directors, President, and Vice-President. Attend and make presentations at the Board of Directors meetings as requested. Participate in continual improvement of the contractual, negotiation, and budgeting processes through education of department managers on financial issues impacting their areas of responsibility.

Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization, i.e., succession planning, ownership transition, evaluation of current and potential alliances, acquisitions and/or mergers, and pension funds and investments. Oversee banking relationships, compliance with terms of corporate loans and credit lines, and appropriate strategies to enhance cash position. Act as financial advisor on any contracts into which the corporation may enter, including participation in pricing, negotiations and tracking financial performance.

Work cooperatively with other managers and employees to achieve the company’s Mission, Vision, and Values statements.

This position ensures the use of extensive and diversified knowledge of finance and accounting principles and practices in broad areas, and advanced techniques, theory, precepts, and practices in the finance and accounting fields. This position assists with the mentoring of senior staff members in their career development.

This position is responsible for the executive direction of Department 9 (Finance and Administration); providing work assignments and reviewing performance of Finance and Administration managers to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff. Provide strategic financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline; demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature fiscal judgment in anticipating and solving problems. Take an active role in new business development.

Conduct performance reviews for direct reports; with hiring, firing, and promotional decision-making authority.

Perform other duties as assigned.
