Job Description
Assist in the development of environmental documents, details, and specifications; within budget and on time, in accordance with current environmental regulations, science and/or natural resources knowledge and practices. The purpose of this position is to provide professional, technical day-to-day support.
Education and Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and/or Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, or another Natural Resources degree from an accredited college or university. Candidate will have 0-2 years of experience pertaining to the environmental field. NEPA documentation, permitting, agency consultation, and GIS experience preferred. Exceptional writing skills are critical in this position.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Under close and frequent supervision, this position assists the environmental team by performing the routine aspects of environmental assignments, subsequently acquiring familiarity with federal, state and local environmental regulations, programs, staff, and operating procedures of the company.
This position performs assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of project-related environmental tasks. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of environmental alternatives or solutions. Typical environmental assignments associated with this position include but are not limited to completing environmental assessments and impact statements, technical studies and field work, scoping letters and permit applications, and coordinating with federal, state and local resource agencies.
Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced environmental analyst. Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes. Researches environmental policy and permitting issues and may work with city, state, and county officials on project-related tasks. Researches environmental solutions and related document findings for project engineers/architects and/or project managers. May attend “kick off” and design review meetings, and may interact with clients as the level of experience progresses.
